Susan Hrovat is a Registered Social Worker - Psychotherapist and a Certified EMDR Therapist whose practice specializes in Trauma & Rehabilitation. She holds a Masters Degree in Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a Registered Member of the College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. She also has an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Western Ontario.
Her training includes Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) along with Somatic Therapies and Mindfulness Practices that are used in the treatment of trauma, injury, chronic pain, grief/loss, depression, anxiety and post traumatic stress. She possesses specialized training in the neuro-physiology of the brain, trauma recovery and disability issues.
Sue has been in private practice for over 20 years. Sue’s practice has been influenced by the works of experts in their fields who come from various theoretical backgrounds. Her unique and eclectic approach has evolved from applying these influences along with the experiences in her life, practice and teaching.
Sue enjoys travelling, reading, music and spending time with her family. She is devoted to continuous learning and has a strong connection to nature and the animal kingdom.
Exercise and meditation have become a part of her daily life following injuries and a chronic pain condition. Accessing and embracing the deepest layers of her own self has been enlightening and transformative at a personal and professional level. The obstacles in her life have ultimately strengthened her.
